There is a cold, cynical maturity in their matching, violet eyes.  Any who look at them would have guessed they were twins, both had red locks and pale freckled skin.  Both had Nordic facial structure, but they were amongst the smallest free people of their village.  One unique characteristic is the Runes of power tattooed at strategic points all over their bodies. 
The Twins normally wear doeskin trousers, linen blouses, and tunics of doeskin or embroidered wool with leather boots (and wool socks).  In cold or rainy weather they have matching wolfe skin hooded cloaks . Brenna is said to have killed each of the wolves used for the cloaks personally.  Occasionally, they can be seen wearing strange erotic looking ritual robes that have places cut out in them that reveal the tattoos. 
While Brenna and Bran appear to be twins, they are not, though they considered themselves to be heart-twins.  They shared a father, but their mothers were sisters, captured in a similar raid 16 years ago on midsummer's eve.  Both were conceived that night. 
They both enjoy watching the butchery, destruction, and rape of a Viking Raid.  The show of power and mercilessness appeals to their cynical, bitter nature a great deal.  It has even know to excite them sexually. 
Brenna and Bran practice an eclectic brand of witchcraft that combines the traditions of the land they grew up in with those of the land of their Celtic Mothers.  In addition the twin souls have added their own twists to the pot.  They have found that ritual sex magic combines their power even more effectively, allowing them to do more than ever.
Despite the fact that their skills are very useful, most still see them as witches and regard the twins with suspicion and fear, and for good cause at times.  For the most part, this distance suited the twins very well indeed. Though Brenna trends to react very poorly to disrespect, especially of his sister. He was no warrior but he had earned a certain respect with the simple walking stick her carried.  He used it as a cudgel, or as his mother had called it. a shillelagh.

Because they have experienced much hardship, mistreatment, and loneliness themselves, Brenna and Bran tend to be more sympathetic than one would expect of them considering their overall set of attitudes.
