At a glance, Virgillus has a rather unassuming demeanor. He is attractive, but nowhere near stunning in physical appearance. He has a lean build and likes to wear loose black robes. When one gets closer and actually looks at him in detail, however, he seems to have a presence that hints at both excitement and fear.

What is being sensed is the his power which is always shifting and churning just below the surface. He is very careful with his power, however, and doesn't use his magic lightly. In fact he tries to get by without ever letting anyone know what he is truly capable of, and as a result he doesn't get too close to those he doesn't trust.

Almost as much as Pyre, Virgillus is a figure shrouded in mystery, the main difference between the two being that even fewer people have heard about him because most of the tales of his exploits wouldn't make a very scary or even exciting story.

He is much older than he looks, and has spent several hundred years behind the scenes acting as a self-appointed hand of fate.

He almost never directly acts on behalf of his favored causes, but he has been the advisor and even the wise teacher many times over. Decades ago he felt that his usefulness to the world was finally waning and that the new breed of heroes had no need for one such as himself, so he retreated into the shadows to rest and await the time when he would once again find a cause that called for his aid.

That time is now, as the evil Queen Pyre plots to destroy the Vikings. Virgillus isn't even sure himself why exactly they are so important, but he can feel that their roles in the grand scheme of destiny are significant indeed. So he prepares to wake once again to aid these people if they will accept him, and most likely aid them anyway if they will not.

Virgillus is a rather complex individual. He is at once the grizzled old curmudgeon and the free-spirited radical dreamer. He wants what is best for the world, at least as he sees it. He also likes to take the time to enjoy what the world has to offer, mostly in the ways of physical pleasure. If personal desires or feelings conflict with the greater good than he puts off his personal satisfaction and doesn't even see it as a sacrifice- in his mind it is just a necessary action.

His fully intimate, sexual encounters are actually rather uncommon, because he just doesn't get that close to others very frequently. When he finds someone he can trust and who interests him he is very straightforward in expressing his desires and any such fortunate companion will be in for some of the most satisfying intimate encounters they have most likely experienced.

In the upcoming struggle, Virgillus wants to see the Vikings come out on top, but not even he knows fully what forces are against them. He is frustrated that such seemingly pure evil exists in a world that would do just as well without it, and on some personal level he wants to fight it and see it vanquished, even if he won't admit it to himself that such is the case. In the end he just wants to see the natural flow of history take its course without being bent by the will of one individual, and he sees himself as a sort of balance, a true hand of fate.
